l. Financial - Marie passed out the financial report as
of August 18th.
The cost of the August monthly
luncheon for
Council members is $13.00.
2. Happy Hour - The next Diva Happy Hour will be Wednesday,
September
22nd, again at Iron Cactus North.
Attendance
is picking up but emphasis needs
to be made
that this is a Red Hat event,
purple clothing
is not required, but they are
expected to
wear a red hat. Just look at
the photos from
the first 2 happy hours and you
can see a
several do not have on a hat,
red or otherwise!
3. Use of Microphone at Luncheons, Other
Vendors, Other Red Hat Groups, etc. - All announcements made at the monthly luncheons
are to be cleared with a member
of the Council
first, and the MC of the luncheon
will either
make the announcement or the
member will
be allowed to make it, only after
it is cleared.
We don’t want any more ‘surprise’
announcements.
The Divas will support all other
chapters
in their endeavors by making
announcements
at our luncheons of their events,
posting
links on our website to their
chapters if
requested, and will announce
that the other
chapter is selling raffle tickets
to support
their fund raising, but the Divas
will not
sell the tickets for them. Interested
ladies
will be directed to a designated
person handling
the tickets for the other chapter
or will
be given contact information
for the Queen
of the chapter. The Queen from
another red
hat chapter will send to Divamail,
what they
would like posted on our website.
If the
chapter would like an announcement
made at
our luncheon, they are to send
this request
to Divamail in advance of the
luncheon where
they desire the announcement
made, which
would include selling of raffle
tickets.
No selling of merchandise in
this forum.
Vendors - We will handle outside
vendor requests
at our luncheons on a case by
case basis.
We will ask for door prize(s)
donation from
the vendor. If we solicit the
vendor, “suggest”
a door prize donation at that
time. We do
not want vendors at every month’s
luncheon,
ideally no more than once a quarter,
if possible.
4. Fredericksburg Trip - Linda is designing the registration form
for this November 20th trip which
had already
been unanimously approved by
all Council
members. Diva Dooz-paying members
will be
notified first; if the 20 spots
are not taken
by Dooz Divas, then the announcement
will
be sent to those on our distribution
list
who attend meetings but don’t
pay Dooz. Notice
will go out when Bobbie returns
from short
vacation.
5. 2005 Dooz - We will begin accepting 2005 Dooz payments
at November’s luncheon. The deadline
for
paying Dooz to be included in
the 2005 Membership
Directory will be the February
2005 luncheon.
6. Smithville December Parade - Will the Austin Adorable Divas be participating
in this year’s Smithville parade?
Since in
all probability Arleen will be
involved in
Susan Shaw’s chapter’s float,
the Divas decided
to pass on this year’s parade
by unanimous
vote.
7. 2006 Convergence - Austin Adorable Divas Chairing Event. This
is a MUST item for September’s
Council meeting
and hopefully all 7 members of
the Council
will be in attendance; if a Council
member
cannot attend September’s Council
meeting,
sending in your vote on this
issue would
be appreciated. Our decision
needs to be
made in advance of the upcoming
October Convergence
so that we can step up to the
plate and volunteer
to do the Convergence in 2006
if that is
what the Divas want to take on
again. The
announcement would need to be
made sometime
during October’s Convergence.
8. Announcements at Luncheons - We need an agenda for each monthly luncheon
so proper introductions and announcements
don’t fall through the cracks.
Queen Sarah
Lawson was voted to be the official
Diva
luncheon MC. If Sarah is unable
to attend
a luncheon, then she will see
that a replacement
is available at that luncheon.
The agenda should include: Welcome
everyone
to the luncheon, recognize all
visitors and
particularly guests of members,
first time
attendees, any birthdays being
celebrated
that month, talk about upcoming
events, i.e.,
next month’s luncheon location,
other upcoming
events for that month, remind
new members
to have their picture taken for
the Membership
Directory before they leave,
talk about our
website which has information
about the Bunco
group, possible start of a 42
Game and any
other pertinent information/announcements.
9. Website Enhancement - Mary Ellen has volunteered to set up a
private link on the Diva website
for Council
members ONLY which will enable
Council members
to track who has responsibility
for hosting
monthly Council meetings, who
is the Queen
heading up a particular monthly
luncheon,
keeping track of action items,
Minutes of
Council meetings, unresolved
issues, etc.
This link will be password protected
and
that password and use of the
link is absolutely
for Council members only. Mary
will begin
working on it just as soon as
she can.
10. Next regular meeting of the Austin Adorable
Divas Council of Queens is Wednesday, September 15, 2004, hostess
Queen Bobbie. Items to be covered
at that
meeting are: #1 Celebrate Queen
Kathie’s
August birthday, sign up for
2005 monthly
luncheon chairs, sign up for
hosting 2005
Council meetings. Bring your
datebooks with
you!
