AUSTIN ADORABLE DIVAS
MEETING OF THE COUNCIL OF QUEENS

Moonshine Restaurant - Hostess Queen Bobbie

Queens Present:

Sarah Lawson
Bobbie Mabry
Mary Ellen Magnuson
Kathie French Todd
Barbara Combs
Linda Cline

Queens Absent & Missed-out with a huge Booboo:

          Marie Holman

l.        Linda passed out personalized luggage tags for the Queens.  Thanks, Linda, they’re great!  She also had a sample available of the Day Minder we are going to give to Dooz members in December.

2.       Logo - Kathie passed out copies of the 3 Logo samples that Diva Arleen Harris made for us.  All 3 are acceptable by the Council; we will use one for our signature Austin Adorable Divas, one for TexasRedHat.com and one to be used for the ’06 convergence.

Kathie then passed around a card to be given to Arleen with $100 to reimburse her for her time/talent in designing the logos for us all to sign.

3.       Membership Application Form - Linda passed out a sample of a revised Membership Application form.  Discussion followed, with some suggested changes and the logistics of using the form when renewals come about and/or for new members.  Linda will incorporate suggestions.

4.       Council Meeting Dinners - It was decided that starting with the January ’05 Council Meeting, we will not bring little gifts to each other at those meetings.  Birthday gifts for the Council Queen only from then on.

5.       San Antonio Red Hats - The San Antonio group has responded that they are not doing a January event next year so we can do an event in January.  Sarah said she remembered it was going to be a February event.  [Not sure where this was left - January or February?  Pending action item.]

6.       Photo of Council members.  Kathie has a photographer contact and she will get in touch with him ASAP as we need to do this in the next 2 weeks.  We will order copies and place one in each Day Minder that we give out, as they are a gift from the Council.

7.       Updated Membership Directory - Mary Ellen to run new member pages for the Membership Directory.

8.       2005 Luncheons.  Linda has volunteered to be in charge of restaurant selection and negotiation; rest of Council to help, i.e., Marie & Kathie to check guests in, receive money if not paid in advance, etc.

9.       Council Dinners for ’05 Signups - We will handle Council dinner responsibility for ’05 via email.

10.     September luncheon:  Cost to Council members is $15.50.  Barbara will check with hotel to see if drop-ins can order off the hotel menu and pay for their luncheon separately.

11.     November luncheon:  Barbara to chair.  Looking at Romeo’s Barton Springs Road

12.     Diva Store.  Detailed discussion of the Store was tabled until Marie is available to report about what she had found in the way of sources for merchandise.  Bobbie volunteered to run the Store - purchase, keep inventory, bring to luncheons, sell and turn profit into treasury.  [Open item].  Marie bought 12 “Diva” pins from Ebay that we’ll have available for September luncheon.  It was agreed we need to find a source for Diva pins to keep on hand as new members always want to buy them.

13.     Website Design.  Mary Ellen led discussion regarding the website, what Interland can and cannot do, costs of different services available.  She and Kathie will work together on getting website live very soon.  We definitely want the website up and running in time for Galveston Convergence.  Linda suggested buying little mirrors that have the TexasRedHat.com printed on them, with prices.  Approved unanimously.  We will probably order 1,000 to have on hand to distribute at other events, i.e., our January ’05 event, ’05 San Antonio Convergence, etc.

Discussion was also held on how we are going to capture the email addresses of registered chapters in Texas so we can let them know about the website.  Will offer use to San Antonio group hosting the October 21-23, 2005 Convergence.

14.     Discussion on Austin ’06 Convergence.  We will ask Budge Mabry if he will be the hotel negotiator.  Suggested downtown hotels, the new Hilton, Hyatt on Town Lake, Stephen F. Austin, Omni Downtown, Holiday Inn downtown.  We want to use examples from ’04 at Moody Gardens in Galveston - lots of perks, no guarantees, meeting rooms free, suites for those running the Convergence, stage in ballroom, food issues, etc.  Bobbie will call Convention Center/Chamber of Commerce to check out possible conflicts in ’06 around dates in October, i.e., UT football games, etc.  Issue - will Budge Mabry expect money for his services if he agrees to do this, or 1/8 of profits,  or????  Bobbie will talk to him about this and get back to us soon.  (Note:  He promises decision Monday or Tuesday)

15.     Time to Celebrate Kathie’s delayed birthday.  Fun time!

NEXT MEETING:  Wednesday, October 20th, Queen Sarah, hostess,

Celebrating Bobbie’s birthday.

Respectfully,
Bobbie Mabry, Resident Scribe
